The “Feel Good” Dilemma

“Young man, it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.” Ecclesiastes 11:9

The biggest excuse that people use when they are justifying doing something they know is wrong is that it feels good. A drunk doesn’t go out and get drunk because he likes the taste of alcohol, he does it because he likes the feeling that it brings. Thank God that we serve a God that doesn’t go off of what feels good. Taking all those lashes with the cat of nine tails didn’t feel good. Hanging on the cross, with the sin of the entire world, every sin we have ever or ever will commit bearing down on the shoulders of a God who loves you even when you don’t love Him back. That didn’t feel too good. So we should be thankful that He doesn’t base everything on what feels good. So the next time you’re at a party or alone with someone you like and your thinking I might as well I’m young, it feels good, I like it, just know that for every little thing you do you have to give an account to God. So I would suggest not going off of the way you feel either, but by what is right and just. Remember your creator and what he did for you, knowing that none of that felt good to Him.

“Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and no longer enjoy living.” Ecclesiastes 12:1
